MILWAUKEE — The Dodgers rode into American Family Field carrying momentum from San Diego and left the first inning already chasing. William Contreras hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the first, Logan Henderson handled Los Angeles quietly through five frames, and the Brewers won the series opener Friday night 5-1. Justin Wrobleski absorbed the loss, dropping to 6-2, and the Dodgers managed just three hits all night.
The Blue Crew did not score until the seventh inning. By then, it was already too late to matter.
Contreras Ends It Before Los Angeles Gets Started
The Dodgers went three-and-out in the top of the first. Shohei Ohtani walked, Mookie Betts struck out, Freddie Freeman struck out, and Ohtani was caught stealing to end the inning before Los Angeles ever touched third base. Then Milwaukee hit.
Jackson Chourio singled. Brice Turang singled. Contreras pulled a 3-2 pitch into the left field seats for his fourth home run of the season, and just like that Wrobleski was staring at a 3-0 deficit after three batters. The inning did not stop there. Andrew Vaughn singled, Jake Bauers singled, Luis Rengifo singled, and Sal Frelick drove in a fourth run on a sacrifice fly to left. Before Wrobleski recorded his third out of the first inning, he had allowed four runs on five hits.
Vaughn added a double in the second to score Contreras, pushing it to 5-0. That was all Henderson would need.
Henderson Keeps LA Off the Board, Wrobleski Takes the Hit
Logan Henderson was not spectacular, but he did not need to be. He worked five innings, allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out four. The Dodgers loaded the bases in the fourth with two outs: Ohtani singled, Freeman walked, Pages walked. They came away with nothing when Max Muncy popped to second. That was the closest Los Angeles got to any real offensive moment in the first six innings.

Wrobleski lasted five innings, giving up eight hits and all five runs on four strikeouts. He threw enough pitches to make the game feel longer than it was, but the damage was front-loaded and the Dodgers never gave him a lead to work with. Paul Gervase covered the next two clean innings, and Jonathan Hernandez handled the eighth without incident.
Ohtani Drives in the Only Run, But It Changes Nothing
Teoscar Hernandez reached on an error to lead off the seventh, Dalton Rushing followed with a single, and pinch-hitter Miguel Rojas moved Hernandez to third with a fly to right. Ohtani lifted a sacrifice fly to left to bring Hernandez home and put Los Angeles on the board at 5-1. That was all Los Angeles would get.
The Dodgers finished 3-for-29 with a run, six walks, and nine strikeouts. Ohtani was 1-for-3 with the RBI and a walk. No one else drove in anything. Freeman drew two of those walks and never came around to score. It was one of those nights where the lineup created traffic without ever finding a way to cash it in.
